Inclusive Land Policies: Gaps Analysis in Ghana’s Land and Natural Resource Governance Policies
COLANDEF’s commitment to inclusive land and natural resource governance policies have been the driving force behind all our advocacy work. We believe that inclusive land and natural resource governance policies are fundamental to building a strong, equitable, and sustainable land and natural resource governance systems that promote socio-economic development. Our work focuses on ensuring that land and natural resource policies are responsive to gender and social inclusion dynamics at all levels of land and natural resource governance and in all stages of the policy process- policy formulation, implementation and monitoring.
Despite some progress made in recent times, especially, with the passing of the Land Act, 2020, ACT 1036, several policies regulating the land and natural resource sector fail to adequately recognize or protect women and other vulnerable groups. This is why we have instituted the annual convening on the status of women’s land, property and natural resource rights, a multi-stakeholder movement for advocacy. The inaugural convening was held in March 2025.
As part of the advocacy strategy for promoting inclusion in land and natural resource governance, we are excited to launch a new post series titled #CallforInclusiveLandPolicies. This series will highlight the outcome of analysis and gaps we have identified in existing land and natural resource policies and policy recommendations.
