Women's Land, Property and Natural Resources Rights Challenges
In March 2025, COLANDEF organized a national forum on the status of women’s land, property and natural resource rights in Ghana. There was consensus at the forum that, advocating and promoting women’s land, property and natural resource rights go beyond access to the surface of the earth. It is about identifying the gaps in policies, laws, governance practices, decision-making making, respect and recognition of different types of ownership and ownership rights, as well as benefit-sharing. A country-wide assessment will soon be conducted on all these aspects, based on which interventions will be designed, implemented and monitored.
Whilst we make arrangements for the country assessment to produce a formal country baseline report, we want to share 25 of the women’s land, property and natural resource rights challenges we have identified and compiled from our work in the field.
